Many people think that it is difficult to create an additional income in your spare time. It is not difficult at all. Almost everyone is capable of investing a small amount of their free time to become an entrepreneur. All it takes is an idea, and the desire to make money with that idea. Throughout this series of posts, we’ll discuss and go through the many different avenues to which you can create income, as well as specifically the ones which have worked for me.
First I’d like to address the issue of start up capital. The old saying is true, that it does take some money to make money. However, if you do it correctly, you’ll get your initial investment plus much more in return. For most of the ideas I propose, $200 will be sufficient to start and work your business. Some will cost more, some will cost less, but do understand that there is an initial cost involved.
With that said, everyone needs to establish three things:
- Free Time – Some people just don’t have it. Do you?
- The Desire for More Money – This one is pretty simple.
- An Idea or Expertise – You will need an idea, or something that you’re good at.
With these three things, almost anyone can make money. For today we’ll start small. If you already know what a blog is, then you are one step ahead. For those of you who don’t, head to Blogger.com and search something you’re interested in.
The term Blog is short for web log. Blogs have become an avenue for many people with expertise, ideas, or just the gift of gab, to express themselves to the world. To enterprise on this, companies have popped up with programs which pay you to blog. Now, it’s not as simple as writing something and getting a paycheck at the end of the week, but it does have many advantages and disadvantages.
Spend some time on blogger.com, searching things that interest you, and taking notice to the different designs and formats of the actual blogs themselves. One of things I recommend to anyone who wants to be their own boss is to start with a blog. It is profitable but more importantly, it will help create a problem solving attitude which is required for the larger ventures.
Our next post will explain how to set up your own blog. We’ll discuss the different methods, as well as blog designs and different topics to ‘blog’ about. After that, we’ll go through how to get paid for your work, and then we’ll explore different and more advanced ways to generate income online.

My supplemental Income turned into a full time job!!
I decided to go back to school and get my cosmetology license because I wanted to make some money on the side and explore my creativity again.
I started to enjoy it more then my “real job”! I was working in an office and creativity is null and void there. I retired and now I have my own salon full time!!
Explore what you love, and then see if you can make a living at it!
